Job Overview

Turner & Townsend is seeking experienced Project Controls Managers to oversee High Tech and Manufacturing initiatives. This role involves leading a diverse Project Controls team, collaborating closely with the client's Project Manager and supply chain to establish a realistic baseline and implement effective controls for monitoring progress, addressing issues, and minimizing delays to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a comprehensive breakdown structure, integrating data from all control functions.
  • Facilitate and lead estimating sessions to achieve a consensus on a market-tested cost baseline, emphasizing value for money and budget accuracy.
  • Organize and lead planning workshops to develop the master project/programme schedule baseline, ensuring feasibility in duration.
  • Understand procurement principles, incorporating lead times into the schedule to prioritize material and equipment orders for timely installations.
  • Oversee the risk management process, conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments to enhance cost and schedule predictability.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships, ensuring all key stakeholders approve the baseline and receive regular progress updates.
  • Implement a robust update process to effectively manage schedules, interfaces, costs, risks, and changes.
  • Guide and influence the principal contractor and client to drive project delivery and meet schedule and cash flow KPIs.
  • Utilize your knowledge of conceptual estimating, funding stage gates, and procurement principles to control costs.
  • Oversee the master program, applying quality checks to updates from the client and principal contractor.
  • Lead the change management process, providing a structured approach for tracking and approving changes promptly.
  • Identify trends and root causes of deviations from the baseline using lead and lag indicators, reporting any necessary remedial actions to maximize client value.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in delivering controls within a major project/programme context.
  • Background in the Hi-tech & Manufacturing sector.
  • Experience managing a multi-functional controls team.
  • Proficient in controls and general software applications, including Primavera (P6), Power BI, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up processes.
  • Knowledge of engineering and construction management.
  • Experience leading collaborative workshops.
  • Dependable with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong time management skills, quick decision-making abilities, and capability to meet project deadlines.
  • Highly motivated with a commitment to client satisfaction and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required, even in a remote working environment.
