We are seeking a compassionate and reliable volunteer to support an individual with sight loss in their daily life. As a Befriender Volunteer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the person's independence and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Accompany the individual on outings, such as walks, lunch, or activities like horse riding or shopping
- Assist with daily tasks, ensuring the person's safety and comfort
- Develop a strong, trusting relationship with the individual, built on empathy and understanding
- Communicate effectively with the person, respecting their needs and preferences
- Participate in introductory sessions to familiarize yourself with the person's routine and requirements
- Age 18 or above
- Good sense of humor, ability to listen actively, and engage in conversation
- Punctuality, reliability, and a commitment to regular attendance
- Kindness, empathy, and patience when interacting with the individual
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
- Willingness to undergo DBS checks and safeguarding training
