The Position

As an Assistant Kitchen Manager, you will collaborate closely with the Head Chef to ensure the efficient functioning of the kitchen, uphold exceptional culinary standards, and provide an outstanding dining experience for our members and guests.

Key Duties

  • Support the Head Chef in designing and implementing menus, ensuring that all dishes adhere to quality standards, flavor profiles, and presentation criteria.
  • Oversee and coordinate the activities of kitchen staff, including training, scheduling, and task assignments to promote an efficient workflow.
  • Manage food preparation, cooking, and plating processes to ensure consistency, portion control, and high-quality output.
  • Prepare and cook high-quality dishes.
  • Ensure adherence to food safety and hygiene regulations, maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Work alongside the Head Chef to create new menu items, considering seasonality, customer preferences, and culinary trends.
  • Engage in menu costing and budgeting activities, assisting in optimizing food costs while maintaining quality and guest satisfaction.

What We Seek:

To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications, attitudes, behaviors, skills, and values:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within a comparable restaurant environment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of diverse cooking techniques, cuisines, and industry trends.
  • Proficient in menu development, recipe creation, and food costing.
  • Strong leadership abilities with the capacity to inspire and manage a team effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate collaboration with kitchen staff, management, and suppliers.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and composure.
  • Level 2 or 3 Food Safety and Hygiene Certificate (or equivalent).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
