Introduction

We are currently expanding the Project Partners team to support an exciting delivery for one of our clients. Our client, a leading player in the Financial Services sector, is seeking a talented Data Analyst to join their dynamic team. With a commitment to excellence and innovation, we are dedicated to providing unparalleled services to our customers.

Role Summary

As a Data Analyst, you will be responsible for overseeing the extraction of critical data sets, verifying their accuracy, and identifying any discrepancies. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a robust understanding of data management principles. You will play a vital role in maintaining data integrity and supporting key business functions within the Financial Services domain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automate Conversion of Excel Reports to CSV: Develop and implement a process to automatically convert regularly produced formatted Excel reports into CSV data extracts.
  • Data Dictionary and Control File Creation: Create data dictionaries that define the structure, contents, and meaning of the data in the CSV files. Develop control files to manage and document the conversion and validation process.
  • Validation of CSV Contents: Implement a validation step to verify that the contents of the CSV files match the original Excel workbooks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to extract, analyze, and validate complex datasets.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Develop and implement data quality standards and procedures to ensure consistency and accuracy. Identify data anomalies, investigate root causes, and propose solutions to enhance data quality.

Essential Skills

  • Data Engineering: Strong experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes. Proficiency in handling and manipulating large datasets.
  • Automation Scripting: Expertise in scripting languages such as Python, R, or similar for automation tasks. Familiarity with libraries and tools for working with Excel and CSV files (e.g., pandas in Python).
  • Validation and Quality Assurance: Experience with data validation techniques to ensure data integrity and accuracy. Ability to create automated validation scripts.
  • Data Documentation: Strong ability to document data structures, processes, and quality standards.
