Sodexo is seeking a skilled Cook Manager to lead our kitchen team in Walsall. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the financial and operational aspects of our school catering service. Your expertise in cooking for large groups and ability to work under pressure will be essential in delivering high-quality food and service to our students and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the replenishment of food and the dismantling of work areas at the end of service.
  • Develop, mentor, and train the kitchen team to ensure they meet the highest standards of food quality and service.
  • Control labor, food, and stock expenses to optimize costs and ensure profitability.
  • Ensure uniformity in food and service standards across all areas of the kitchen.
  • Develop and implement menus that meet the dietary needs and preferences of our students and staff.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and food safety standards.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in cooking for large groups, preferably in a school or similar setting.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and train a team.
  • Basic food handling skills certification, such as NVQ Level 2 or Level 2 Food Safety Certificate.
  • Minimum of 1 year's experience in a similar role, with a strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
