Job Overview

We are seeking dedicated professionals who are passionate about providing high-quality clinical and personal care while engaging in enjoyable activities. In this role, you will manage a caseload of Children and Young People (CYP), allowing you to make a significant impact and create lasting memories. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, nursing associates, healthcare assistants, activity coordinators, and a child and family support team. The position may require some evening and weekend visits and will involve working on a 24/7 rota when delivering end-of-life care in the community.

Our care team consists of a diverse group of adult, learning disability, and pediatric nurses, and we value the unique skills each nurse contributes. Previous experience in palliative care or pediatrics is not a prerequisite, as we provide a comprehensive development and preceptorship program, along with in-house training to help staff build clinical skills and confidence.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and compassionate nurses to provide palliative care for Children and Young People (CYP) within the hospice community team. The role involves delivering short respite breaks aimed at enhancing quality of life and providing end-of-life care and support after death.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • RNC or RN Adult or RN LD registration

Desirable

  • Teaching and mentorship qualification

Experience

Essential

  • 1 year post-qualification experience
  • Knowledge of child and adult safeguarding procedures.

Desirable

  • IV competency
  • Experience working with CYP with complex needs.
  • Evidence of a range of clinical competencies
  • Experience in a palliative care setting
  • Experience in a community setting

Skills

Essential

  • Ability to communicate effectively with children, families, and professionals
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Competent IT skills
  • Car owner with a willingness to travel across the county
