About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Senior Nurse to join our clinical team at Chestnut Tree House, a children's hospice providing specialist palliative care for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and support to the team in delivering specialist palliative care to children, young people, and their families.
  • Develop and implement safe and effective clinical care plans in collaboration with parents/carers/young people.
  • Line manage a small team of junior nurses and care support workers, promoting excellent clinical care and teamwork.
  • Contribute to the development of new workstreams, such as transition, end of life care, learning disabilities, patient experience, and patient safety.
  • Participate in mentoring and supervising students on placement, promoting best practice and research-based care.
Requirements
  • At least 2 years' experience in a band 5 registered nursing role, including palliative care and nursing children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
  • Excellent clinical skills, knowledge, and competencies, with the ability to critically analyze research and promote evidence-based practice.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good organizational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to adapt and reprioritize at short notice.
  • Competent IT skills and a mentorship qualification or equivalent.
