Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Nurse to join our clinical team at St Barnabas Hospices. As a Senior Nurse Leader, you will provide leadership and support to the team while delivering specialist palliative care to children, young people, and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the team in delivering high-quality palliative care.
  • Develop and implement care plans in collaboration with parents, carers, and young people.
  • Conduct regular assessments and reviews to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Line manage a small team of junior nurses and care support workers.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the highest standards of care.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in a band 5 registered nursing role, including palliative care and nursing children with life-threatening and life-limiting conditions.
  • Excellent clinical skills and knowledge, with a full set of up-to-date clinical competencies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, transferable within a range of professional and family situations.
  • Ability to plan and deliver safe and effective clinical care in collaboration with parents, carers, and young people.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Good organisational, planning, and time management skills, with the ability to adapt and reprioritise at short notice.
  • Ability to critically analyse research and promote and disseminate relevant findings in practice.
  • Mentorship qualification or equivalent.
  • Experience in supporting students on placement as a supervisor or practice assessor.
  • Competent IT skills.
