London, Greater London, United Kingdom NSPCC Full time

At NSPCC, we believe that every child's future is worth advocating for. This conviction fuels our mission and inspires our Children's Services team to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. As a Children's Services Practitioner, you will play a vital role in this transformative journey.

An exciting opportunity has emerged within the NSPCC South West & Channel Islands regional hub for a full-time, passionate, and proactive Children's Services Practitioner to enhance our team. In this position, you will cultivate specialized knowledge and skills in preventative services that not only improve future career prospects but also directly contribute to the safety and well-being of children and young people.

As a Children's Services Practitioner, your contributions will be crucial in expanding our outreach and impact across the region. You will provide direct services, collaborate with various agencies, build community capacity in targeted areas, and engage service users in planning, decision-making, and evaluation processes. The current portfolio of services in the South West and Channel Islands Hub includes:

  • Letting the Future In (LTFI): A program aimed at helping children and families recover from the effects of child sexual abuse, supported by recent Home Office funding.
  • Pregnancy in Mind (PiM): A preventative mental health initiative designed to assist expectant parents facing mild to moderate anxiety or depression.
  • Domestic Abuse Recovering Together (DART): A group work initiative that supports children and mothers in rebuilding their lives after experiencing domestic abuse.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to influence service development through direct work, evaluation, and dissemination of learning. You will participate in local campaigns and collaborate with our School's Service to reach a broader audience of children, young people, and families.

In return, you will engage in various innovative projects, manage a reasonable caseload, and benefit from excellent training and development opportunities. You will receive supervision and support from a knowledgeable Team Manager committed to helping you reach your full potential.

Our workforce is the cornerstone of our mission to protect children and prevent abuse. To ensure our employees feel valued and supported, we offer a comprehensive range of benefits, including:

  • Your salary is reviewed annually to ensure competitiveness with the UK's leading charities.
  • Entitlement to 29 days of annual leave plus bank holidays (in full-time roles), increasing to 32 days after five years.
  • We match your pension contributions up to 7%.
  • Access to our online discount portal featuring over 3,000 discounts and offers.
  • Utilization of our Wellness Hub, which provides resources for emotional resilience, mindfulness, and overall well-being.

To qualify for this role, you will need:

  • An appropriate qualification in Health and Social Care, Childcare, Early Years, or Community Work at NVQ or Diploma level.
  • Previous experience working directly with children and families in social care, health, or community settings.
  • A solid understanding of child protection best practices, relevant legislation, and appropriate actions when concerns arise regarding a child.

Become part of a dedicated team that is passionate about their work and the individuals they serve. You will discover opportunities for personal growth, face challenges, and unite in a shared purpose that enhances the lives of countless young individuals.

We are committed to fostering a society that values diversity and mutual respect. All candidates are evaluated fairly based on their skills, competencies, and performance, and we welcome applications from individuals of diverse backgrounds.
