Job Overview

We are offering a remarkable opportunity for a General Adult Consultant Psychiatrist to become a vital part of the Coastal West Sussex Care Delivery Service. This position involves providing advanced medical care to individuals evaluated by the crisis and home treatment team.

This role includes a Recruitment and Retention payment of £25,000, alongside a potential relocation allowance of up to £8000. The payment structure is as follows:

  • £5000 upon appointment
  • £5000 after 12 months of service
  • £6500 after 30 months of service
  • £8500 after 48 months of service

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting assessments and developing treatment plans for patients under the care of the crisis and home treatment team. You will collaborate closely with bed management to ensure efficient patient flow and work alongside the multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional patient care.

In this role, you will engage with medical staff from acute wards and provide specialized psychiatric assessments, treatment, and aftercare for patients in crisis, aged 18 and older, referred to the team.

You will also offer clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff, with opportunities to develop educational and clinical supervision roles for GP or core mental health trainees and higher trainees, as coordinated with the locality tutor.

Person Specification

Essential Qualifications

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Full registration with the GMC and a license to practice at the time of appointment.
  • Approved clinician status or the ability to achieve this within three months of appointment.
  • Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register or the ability to achieve this within six months.
  • Strong clinical skills with a bio-psycho-social approach and extensive medical knowledge.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Higher degree or qualification in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • MRCPsych.
  • Good standing with the GMC with respect to warnings or conditions on practice.
  • A broad range of specialist and sub-specialist experience relevant to the position within the NHS or a comparable service.
