Residential Care Practitioner for Children in Care

Position Overview
The Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is committed to enhancing its children's residential services, ensuring that more of our looked-after children are supported within their local communities, close to family and educational institutions.
We are in search of dedicated practitioners with a background in specialized solo care, mental health residential environments, crisis support, and experience working with children and young individuals facing sensory challenges, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), mental health issues, and those who have endured significant trauma.
This new residential initiative will be integrated into a Children and Young People Service that has received a 'Good' rating from Ofsted, reflecting our commitment to high standards of care.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for resilient, child-centered practitioners who are eager to:
- Enhance their skills and practices to deliver exceptional residential care.
- Provide support and care for children with complex needs, sometimes in solo settings.
- Work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and overnight shifts as part of the residential team.

Qualifications and Experience
We seek individuals who are:
- Experienced in working with children and young people with complex needs.
- Skilled in multi-agency collaboration.
- Possessing a relevant qualification at NQF Level 3 or equivalent.
This role requires community outreach, necessitating access to a vehicle and a valid UK driving license. An enhanced DBS check and occupational health assessment will be required.
