Position: Lead Financial Accountant - Reporting and Compliance

Compensation:

We are looking for a dedicated and skilled Lead Financial Accountant to become a vital part of our expanding Reporting and Compliance division.

The Reporting and Compliance division plays a crucial role in our organization's internal and external financial disclosures, ensuring the delivery of high-quality statutory and regulatory financial statements.

This division encompasses a wide range of accounting and reporting functions, including the development of accounting methodologies, preparation of financial data and analyses, and timely reporting that adheres to external standards and best practices.

Our team is committed and growing, and we are eager to welcome high-caliber professionals to enhance our capabilities.

At Nationwide, we promote a hybrid working model whenever feasible.

This approach fosters rewarding interactions by bringing colleagues together across our nationwide network while also allowing generous opportunities for remote work.

We value our time in the office for collaboration, learning, and connection.

In this role, you will spend a minimum of two days each week, or 40% of your working hours if part-time, at one of our offices, with occasional travel as required.

If selected, your hiring manager will provide additional details on the working arrangements.

In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks each month, which may include:

  • Financial reporting, including the consolidation of Group financial results and the preparation of statutory accounts, utilizing your analytical skills to interpret data and investigate discrepancies.
  • Regulatory reporting, which involves gathering data from various departments, conducting analyses based on regulatory requirements, and producing accurate reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual submissions.
  • Overseeing the review and preparation of financial documentation, such as notes to the financial statements for our Annual Report and internal monthly reports.
  • Enhancing processes and outputs to ensure they remain relevant and effective for future needs.

About You:
Essential Qualifications:
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA)
  • Proven experience in managing financial reporting processes, such as month-end ledger closures or Group reporting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, resilience, and effective influencing skills.
  • Capability to collaborate closely with key stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery of outcomes.
  • Proficient in analyzing numerical data, identifying trends and issues, and collaborating with others to resolve discrepancies.
  • Confident in presenting financial information to key stakeholders, including senior management.

Our Customer First ethos emphasizes placing customers and members at the core of our collaborative efforts.

You can enhance your application by showcasing behaviors that resonate with you and how you have exemplified these in your previous roles.

Key Behaviors:

  • Communicate Clearly: Be honest and direct, using clear language that resonates with both colleagues and customers.
  • Aim for Improvement: Continuously seek better ways to work together and serve our customers.
  • Deliver Results: Prioritize impactful tasks, make decisive choices, and take accountability for outcomes.

We understand that applying for jobs can feel overwhelming. Each application is reviewed individually, so highlighting your most relevant experience will enhance your chances of success.

Employee Benefits:

At Nationwide, we offer a variety of employee benefits, including:

  • A personal pension plan with a generous employer contribution.
  • Up to two days of paid volunteering annually.
  • Life assurance coverage equivalent to eight times your salary.
  • A diverse selection of additional benefits through our salary sacrifice scheme.
  • Access to health and wellness options through Gympass.
  • Annual performance-related bonuses.
  • Training opportunities to support your career development.
  • 25 days of annual leave, pro rata.
