Support Worker

We are seeking a caring and resilient individual to join our Independent Living team as a Service Support Worker within the Wrexham Emergency Department.
As a Service Support Worker, you will provide practical and emotional support to patients, undertaking non-medical tasks to free up medical staff to focus on their clinical role. You will also ensure patients have food and drink while waiting for long hours and assist with food distribution at meal times.
Key responsibilities include:
- Escorting patients to assigned departments
- Collecting prescriptions to speed up discharge
- Providing emotional support and pastoral care while patients await treatment
- Providing emotional support to close friends and families
- Driving patients home when discharged and ensuring they are safely settled at home
- Signposting and referring patients to other sources of support in the community
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- To know how to improve service quality for the benefit of users, dealing with queries in a diplomatic and confidential manner
- A good knowledge of services provided by the NHS and Social Care
- Education to GCSE level (or equivalent by experience)
- To be IT literate
- A full UK driving licence allowing you to drive a manual transmission vehicle
