Role Summary:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer to join the Raytheon Assured Position Navigation and Timing Systems team, part of the broader Systems & Products business unit, focusing on the development of Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems and Alternative Navigation Solutions for military applications.

The role involves providing support across Raytheon's APNT product range, offering Systems Engineering expertise throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements gathering and analysis to design, testing, qualification, and certification activities.

Key Responsibilities:

This position primarily supports our flagship products, providing assistance to the System Design Authority and Systems Engineering Team leadership for customer support, production assistance, and obsolescence management of established products. Responsibilities include managing project requirements, generating technical documentation, conducting Systems Analysis and Design work, and participating in technical design reviews.

Additionally, the role involves supporting the Systems Team in creating bid proposal materials and submitting bids in response to customer inquiries, as well as contributing to the definition and design of next-generation products. The candidate will be expected to conduct development studies and investigations related to product performance while collaborating with various internal stakeholders.

The position requires working in a highly technical environment, supporting the team while also working independently. Laboratory work will be involved for product testing. Tackling complex challenges and delivering solutions that adhere to company processes in a timely manner is a crucial aspect of the role. A successful candidate will be comfortable integrating into a large team to achieve collective goals.

Candidate Qualifications:

Essential

  • Experience across the systems engineering lifecycle from requirements through to project completion.
  • Proficiency in generating technical documentation at all levels.
  • Understanding of policies, practices, and procedures, with the ability to communicate these effectively to the team.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adhere to project directives.
  • Capability to work independently with minimal oversight from Team Leaders and Management.
  • Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent industry certification.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of GNSS systems and receiver characteristics.
  • Familiarity with the IBM Rational DOORS toolset.
  • Experience with RF (including Antennas) and Digital Hardware design and testing.
  • Algorithm development experience, including Modelling in MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Proficiency with SysML or UML in a Systems Engineering context.
  • Experience with configuration management systems.

Benefits

  • Competitive salaries.
  • 25 days holiday plus statutory public holidays, with the option to buy and sell up to 5 days (37hr).
  • Contributory Pension Scheme (up to 10.5% company contribution).
  • Discretionary company bonus scheme.
  • Life Assurance at 6 times salary with pension.
  • Flexible Benefits scheme with extensive salary sacrifice options, including Health Cashplan, Dental, and Cycle to Work among others.
  • Enhanced sick pay.
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies, including improved maternity, paternity, and shared parental leave.
  • Car or car allowance (dependent on grade/role).
  • Private Medical Insurance (dependent on grade).

Work Culture

  • 37-hour working week, although hours may vary based on role, job requirements, or site-specific arrangements.
  • Early finish at 1:30 PM on Fridays, allowing for an early start to the weekend.
  • Opportunities for remote, hybrid, and site-based working, depending on individual needs and role requirements.
  • A mature, flexible working culture focused on output rather than time spent at the desk. More formal flexible working arrangements can be requested and assessed based on the role.
