Role Summary:

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned and high-achieving Principal Systems Engineer to join the Raytheon Assured Position Navigation and Timing (APNT) Engineering team. This role is integral to our Systems & Products business unit, focusing on the development of Digital GPS Anti-Jam Systems and Alternative Navigation Solutions for military applications.

The position will involve providing Design Authority expertise across Raytheon's APNT product range, offering technical guidance throughout the product lifecycle, from requirements gathering and analysis to design, testing, qualification, certification, and ongoing product support.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Project Engineering Manager APNT, providing technical leadership and direction for the engineering team. You will hold Design Authority responsibility for assigned products and assist in developing strategic roadmaps for the APNT team.

You will support our Business Development and Capture teams in customer engagements and technical discussions, leading the technical contributions for bids and proposals, and producing engineering estimates to facilitate successful business acquisition.

Collaborating closely with customers and the Systems Engineering team, you will help define and refine technical requirements, generate technical documentation, and manage these requirements throughout the design lifecycle to ensure compliance with product development standards.

Working alongside our skilled design team and industry experts, you will tackle complex technical challenges related to new and existing GPS Anti-Jam Products. You will also represent engineering in production Integrated Product Teams (IPT) to address production inquiries, manage obsolescence, and oversee change management processes.

You will be responsible for conducting all technical design reviews and ensuring the qualification, verification, validation, and certification of our designs meet the high standards expected of Raytheon products. Our organization heavily invests in Research & Development for both existing and new products within the APNT division.

Additionally, you will mentor and support junior engineers to foster their growth and contribute to the team's overall success.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in product development at a team lead level.
  • Strong understanding of high-speed digital design, electro-mechanical, and thermal product design in challenging environments.
  • Familiarity with RF concepts and techniques for analogue signals up to 2GHz.
  • Experience designing circuits in both analogue and digital formats, with exposure to FPGA or DSP control.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface designs with established systems.
  • Extensive experience in systems engineering principles related to product development.
  • Knowledge of product qualification processes for EMC and environmental requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to ownership and collaboration within cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively to ensure timely completion while maintaining design quality.
  • Experience interpreting customer specifications and understanding end-use environments.
  • Capability to develop hardware concepts from limited customer requirements and communicate potential solutions effectively.
  • Proficient in generating technical documentation at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including customers and senior management.
  • Strong stakeholder management and customer interaction skills.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
  • Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent industry certification.
  • Eligibility for or current holder of SC security clearance.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Design Authority in hardware product development.
  • Familiarity with RF circuitry and high-speed D/A/A/D conversion.
  • Proficiency in schematic and PCB layout tools, as well as electronics simulation environments.
  • Knowledge of firmware development and testing using appropriate toolsets.
  • Experience in product quality testing and certification.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools for requirement capture and design management.
  • Understanding of GNSS systems and receiver characteristics.
  • Experience with SysML or UML in a systems engineering context.
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
