About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to lead our Assured Position, Navigation and Timing (APNT) business. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for the technical governance and engineering delivery of APNT products, from cradle to grave.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Integrity: Ensure the technical integrity of programme work products, including safety assessments, requirement definition and decomposition, architecture, interface definition, development and production verification strategies, qualification, reliability and maintainability, and product certification.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide clear, unambiguous technical leadership and direction, balancing technical performance with cost, schedule, product performance, producibility and affordability objectives.
  • Stakeholder Management: Represent Raytheon UK as the primary technical contact for APNT with key internal and external stakeholders, including customers and key suppliers.
  • Team Management: Motivate and coach Engineering team members to success, demonstrating and communicating technical expectations for execution, accountability and execution discipline.
  • Process Improvement: Champion process maturity and the continuous improvement of our ways of working.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering or a related subject.
  • Strong technical background in the design, qualification and certification of mission critical equipment, including the application of relevant design assurance processes and military standards.
  • Significant breadth and depth of technical leadership experience spanning the engineering lifecycle, including Systems, Electronics (including Digital, RF and Firmware), Software, Mechanical, Reliability, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Knowledge of the APNT market, including customers, equipment suppliers and key stakeholders.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills with a proven track record in skilful navigation of senior stakeholders across business and industry.
  • Strong engineering leadership skills, with a track record of delivering through others in a matrix organisation, a structured approach to problem solving, and of developing high performing teams.
  • Highly dependable, autonomous and results oriented.
  • Holder, or ability to achieve, SC Clearance.
  • On the path to achieving, or have already achieved, professional registration as a Chartered Engineer.
  • Willingness to travel throughout UK, Europe and the US.
