Transport Support Specialist – Beechwood College

Location: Cardiff Salary: £12.00 Per Hour Hours: 37.5 Hours Per Week

Iris Care Group is thrilled to present a rewarding opportunity for a Transport Support Specialist to become part of our dedicated team at Beechwood College, Sully.

In this role, you will assist our service users in engaging with various activities, which include sensory excursions, transporting individuals to and from appointments, conducting home visits, collecting medications, and shopping. As a driver, you will also serve as a secondary caregiver, requiring not only a clean driving record but also experience in a similar capacity within the care sector, coupled with a genuine compassion for others.

The position entails 37.5 hours per week, with a flexible schedule spanning across 7 days. The primary shift pattern will typically be from 0800 to 1600 hours, Monday to Friday.

Role Overview:

As a Transport Support Specialist, you will assist individuals with complex needs, including Autism, Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviors, physical disabilities, and Mental Health conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

- Facilitate student access to appointments and community resources by driving the Company Vehicle or Mini Bus.

- Ensure the safety and security of students at all times during transport.

- Manage Health & Safety protocols, including coordinating vehicle maintenance.

- Conduct daily and weekly vehicle checks, ensuring cleanliness and proper maintenance.

- Collaborate with colleagues regarding student needs.

- Collect prescriptions, visit pharmacies, and retrieve medications in accordance with established policies.

- Organize daily schedules and time management based on service user requirements.

Essential Qualifications:

- Valid Driving License D1.

- All personnel working in a service registered with Care Inspectorate for Wales (CIW) must register with Social Care Wales. You should also be prepared to pursue the necessary qualifications to meet registration requirements.
