About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Beechwood College, Sully. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with complex needs, including Autism, Learning Disabilities, challenging behaviors, physical disabilities, and Mental Health conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • **Promote Safeguarding**: Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
  • **Teaching and Learning**: Provide high-quality teaching and learning opportunities, showing flexibility and differentiation to meet students' needs.
  • **Student Support**: Have knowledge of each student's targets and provide the necessary support for students to achieve their goals.
  • **Classroom Management**: Manage and maintain student files, ensuring all information is accurate and up-to-date.
  • **Communication**: Support and contribute to the college's total communication approach.
  • **Role Modeling**: Role model active support and support Residential staff in strategies and best practice methods of supporting student needs.
  • **Display and Environment**: Provide and maintain high-quality displays, ensuring the College is a vibrant environment that celebrates students' achievements and diversity.
  • **Preparation and Delivery**: Assist the lecturer to prepare the learning environment and maintain it to a good standard.
  • **Activities and Clubs**: Organize and deliver activities/clubs in student break and lunchtimes.
  • **Independent Learning**: Ensure students have access to independent learning opportunities within the college environment and through inclusive community contexts.
  • **Partnerships**: Maintain effective partnerships with parent/carers to promote students' learning and provide information to parents about targets, achievements, and progress.
  • **Personal Care**: Offer a high level of personal care to students, respecting their privacy and cultural, age, and gender considerations.
  • **Staff Meetings and Training**: Attend staff meetings and training activities/workshops as required.
  • **Cover and Absence**: Cover for lecturers' planned absence and short-term sickness absence as required.
  • **Offsite Activities**: Assist with the planning and implementation of offsite activities and organized trips.
Requirements

  • **Teamwork**: Ability and willingness to work constructively as part of a team.
  • **Classroom Organization**: Ability to organize classroom activities, prepare and set out resources, and implement strategies for teaching and learning.

  • **Transfer of Learning**: Ability to help students transfer their learning to other parts of their lives.
  • **Initiative and Flexibility**: Willingness to use own initiative and work flexibly.
  • **Training and Development**: Willingness to attend training sessions.
  • **Communication and Interpersonal Skills**: Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
