About the Role

We are seeking a Specialty Doctor to join our Community Team in Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the medical community team and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team.

The main duty involves leading the psychiatric assessment and treatment of child and adolescent patients in the Mid Cornwall area under the guidance of a Consultant.

The ideal candidate will possess experience in treating children and young people in an inpatient setting and have a background in various mental health services, including primary care.

Applicants should have at least four years of medical experience, with a minimum of two years in Psychiatry, preferably within a CAMHS environment. While MRCPsych is not mandatory, candidates who are in the process of obtaining it are encouraged to apply, as they will be offered opportunities for higher training and support with their examinations.

  • Cooperating with services to ensure child protection.

Person Specification
  • Recognised basic Medical Degree
  • Relevant higher degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications MRCPsych
  • Section 12 Approval
  • Eligible for full registration with the GMC at time of appointment.
  • Completed 4 years Post Graduate experience
  • Completed 2 years Psychiatry experience
Clinical Skills
  • Relevant specialty clinical knowledge: capacity to apply sound clinical knowledge relevant to the job.
  • Clinical judgement: experience in making clinical decisions and managing risk. Knows when to seek help, able to prioritise clinical need.
  • Risk Management: knowledge of risk management.
  • Experience working within a Community Mental health team.
Commitment to Clinical GovernanceOrganisation of further teaching programmes in medical education or multi professional education. Commitment to and experience of undergraduate and post graduate learning and teaching.Experience of involvement in a research project and/or publication.Effective communication skills: demonstrates clarity in written/spoken communication and capacity to adapt language as appropriate to the situation.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
