This is an exciting opportunity to take up a Consultant position in our Ophthalmology department at the Royal Cornwall Hospital NHS Trust. About the Role
  • As a Consultant in Ophthalmology, you will be responsible for providing expert care to patients with a range of eye conditions, from routine check-ups to complex surgeries.
  • You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive the best possible care and treatment.
  • You will also be responsible for teaching and training junior staff, as well as participating in clinical audit and governance activities to improve the quality of care provided to patients.
  • Additionally, you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of our department's policies and procedures, and to participate in local, regional, and national initiatives to improve eye care services.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality patient care, including routine check-ups, surgeries, and other treatments.
  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care.
  • Teach and train junior staff, including medical students and junior doctors.
  • Participate in clinical audit and governance activities to improve the quality of care provided to patients.
  • Contribute to the development of departmental policies and procedures.
  • Participate in local, regional, and national initiatives to improve eye care services.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Completion of training or fellowship in glaucoma.
  • Experience in clinical audit and governance.
  • Ability to teach and train junior staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
