This position presents an invaluable chance to acquire practical experience within the fashion sector and collaborate closely with seasoned designers.

Key Responsibilities:

As a Knitwear Development Intern, your duties will include:

  • Creating style boards and development presentations.
  • Organizing and archiving physical swatches and prototypes systematically.
  • Assisting the developer in maintaining updated trackers for yarn, approved swatches, and prototypes.
  • Ensuring the knitwear workspace is orderly and well-labeled, with a cleanup at the end of each day.
  • Weekly organization of development rails.
  • Assisting in the preparation of the room for fittings and development meetings, ensuring all necessary components are available.
  • Supporting data entry on PLM and Zedonk systems.
  • Monitoring press samples.
  • Assisting in measuring prototypes throughout the development phase and during pre-production handover.
  • Taking notes during fittings and pre-production handover sessions.
  • Retrieving and preparing vintage pieces from the archive.
  • Photographing and dismantling all previous season boards.
  • Maintaining a well-stocked supply of equipment and stationery.
  • Assisting with CAD drawings and Photoshop edits each season.
  • Coordinating shipments and keeping the tracker updated.
  • Organizing seasonal lab dips with mills.
  • Creating and updating FTS fabric headers throughout the season.
  • Assisting with the collection plan updates.
  • Tracking yarn orders, purchase orders, and shipments.

Required Skills:

  • Knowledge of knitwear construction and yarns, preferably from a Knitwear/Textile course.
  • Experience with hand and machine knitting, as well as crochet.
  • Strong sewing skills.
  • Proficient in pattern cutting.
  • Skilled in Photoshop.
  • Experience with mock-ups.
  • Confidence in using CAD software.
  • Proficient in Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • A proactive attitude.
  • A collaborative team player.

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in full-time education.
  • A genuine interest and enthusiasm for knitwear and fashion design.
  • Basic understanding of knitting techniques, including both hand and machine methods.
  • Familiarity with design software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and CAD programs.
  • Strong attention to detail and an eye for color, texture, and pattern.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Capability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Creative, eager to learn, and proactive.
