About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Data Protection and Privacy Manager to join our growing team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring that The Openwork Partnership adheres to all relevant data protection and privacy regulations, including UK GDPR, EU GDPR, and PECR.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive data protection policies and procedures across the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential data protection vulnerabilities and implement appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance and training to employees on data protection best practices.
  • Manage data subject requests, including access, rectification, erasure, and restriction of processing.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, such as the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), on data protection matters.
  • Oversee third-party vendor due diligence and ensure compliance with data protection requirements.

Skills and Experience

  • In-depth understanding of UK GDPR, EU GDPR, PECR, and other applicable privacy law or regulation.
  • Strong understanding of information security controls and principles and their fundamental link to data protection.
  • Technical understanding of technologies and their data protection and privacy implications.
  • Working knowledge of OneTrust, especially the Data Mapping and Third-Party Assurance module.
  • Understanding of relevant security frameworks and standards such as ISO27001 and NIST standards desirable.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good project management and strong organizational skills to deliver effective programmes of change.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with an excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze data for patterns and trends and deliver findings in a range of styles and formats to various levels in the organization.
  • Ability to work as part of a team or autonomously to ensure effective delivery of the data protection and privacy management programme in line with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) accountability framework.
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills and ability to challenge others and be challenged.
  • Adaptable to change, and flexibility to deal with any tasks as required.
