Team Overview

The securitisation division at Ashurst is an integral part of our expansive Global Markets team. This division collaborates closely with our debt capital markets and derivatives practices to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Our team's expertise encompasses a wide range of securitisation structures, including residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS), commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), auto loans, consumer credit, and both prime and non-performing assets. We also handle whole business securitisations, covered bonds, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), and trade receivables, utilizing both true sale and synthetic structures.

Job Overview

In this role, you will collaborate primarily with partners located in London and across Europe, specializing in various structured finance transactions spanning multiple asset classes.

Flexibility and enthusiasm for exploring new product areas are essential. This position provides exposure to a diverse array of clients, sectors, and financing techniques.

You will have the opportunity to engage with sponsors, arrangers, debt investors, corporates, banks, governmental entities, and credit enhancement providers.

Additionally, you will work in close partnership with other departments within Ashurst, including corporate, restructuring, banking, financial regulatory, and tax.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in advising on structured finance transactions is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proficiency in drafting complex legal documents.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience in managing transactions.
  • A solid academic background.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills and experience in business development.
  • Confidence in negotiating commercial terms with counterparties.
  • A collaborative team player who interacts effectively with colleagues at all levels.

Recent Work Highlights:

We have successfully advised on significant transactions, including:

  • A £550 million debt securitisation facility for a leading electric vehicle provider.
  • The first public STS transaction for a major bank involving prime mortgage-backed notes.
  • Structuring a securitisation transaction for a portfolio of consumer loan receivables.
  • Financing a distressed loan portfolio acquisition in the renewable energy sector.
  • Advising on a public securitisation of revolving credit receivables for a major retail bank.
