A leading clinical development services provider in the life sciences sector.

Position Overview:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in implementing the Health and Safety strategy focused on biological safety, overseeing the management and operation of Containment Level 2 and 3 facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Advocate for best practices in biological safety, including the proper storage and handling of pathogens, particularly those classified under HG2 and HG3.
2. Collaborate with key stakeholders in biosafety to offer professional support to scientific groups, operational laboratories, and clinical teams.
3. Attend Biological and GM committee meetings as required.
4. Develop and implement a comprehensive biological safety management system.
5. Lead timely investigations into accidents and incidents.
6. Conduct audits and inspections, working with risk owners to address and mitigate risks.
7. Engage with external regulatory bodies and manage submissions for pathogen use.

Candidate Profile:
A degree in a relevant scientific discipline or a PhD in Biological Science is required. The ideal candidate will possess:
- Extensive knowledge of virology and microbiology acquired through academic and industry experience.
- Previous experience in a similar advisory role within clinical trials or laboratory environments.
- A thorough understanding of the regulatory frameworks governing Containment Levels 2 and 3 laboratories.
- Proficiency in risk management processes, including conducting risk assessments for biological pathogens.
