About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to lead our maritime systems software development team at Morson Talent. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving software engineering processes to excellence and leading innovative developments in maritime technology.

This role plays a crucial role in achieving our business strategy, focusing on software development for naval innovation. As a Senior Software Engineer at Morson Talent, you will lead and mentor software development teams, leveraging your expertise to drive projects to success. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into software solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and mentor software development teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
  2. Drive software engineering processes to excellence, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices
  3. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into software solutions
  4. Develop and maintain software systems using languages such as C++, Java, and others
  5. Design and develop system architecture using UML/Enterprise Architect
  6. Ensure software quality through unit testing and configuration management
  7. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex software projects
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. Proven leadership experience in software development projects
  2. Experience in leading teams of software engineers, either functionally or in a line management capacity
  3. A degree or equivalent qualification in software engineering or a related discipline
  4. Strong knowledge and understanding of software engineering, with a preference for familiarity with military systems, particularly maritime systems
  5. Understanding of Open Systems Architectures and Principles
  6. Significant experience with Software Engineering Lifecycle processes and tools
  7. Problem-solving skills and the ability to critically review results and methods for quality assurance
  8. Ability to expand knowledge into new domain areas, collaborate across domains, and see the bigger picture
  9. Excellent communication skills, including the delivery of presentations
  10. Exceptional written skills, especially in technical report writing and the ability to communicate with both expert and non-expert stakeholders
