Position Overview

The successful candidate will assume a pivotal role in overseeing the academic administration and operational execution of the Transnational Education (TNE) programs within the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow.

This role necessitates collaboration with the TNE Service Manager, TNE Regional Manager, academic staff, and various university services, as well as partners in other institutions. The aim is to contribute to the design, implementation, and management of essential systems while fostering continuous enhancement of administrative processes to ensure effective and efficient operational and educational delivery in alignment with the School's protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and supervise a team dedicated to providing comprehensive administrative support for TNE learning and teaching, including quality assurance, student registration, progression tracking, scheduling, assessment, and examinations, ensuring compliance with university regulations and professional accreditation standards.

  2. Manage the logistics of complex travel and visa arrangements for the team of fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) teaching staff, as well as TNE-related academic and support staff visits.

  3. Oversee TNE financial activities, including procurement and tuition fee management, in collaboration with professional service teams across various campuses.

  4. Organize events for TNE academic staff and students, such as Summer Schools and visiting scholar programs, ensuring adherence to compliance requirements.

  5. Enhance key functions and optimize the use of IT systems to facilitate electronic administration and management, thereby improving efficiency in TNE delivery and enriching the experience for both staff and students.

  6. Collaborate with the TNE Service Manager, TNE Regional Manager, and the School's Learning and Teaching Manager to promote best practices in compliance with the policies and regulations governing TNE learning and teaching, student support, assessment, and quality assurance.

  7. Provide line management for a small team within the Glasgow TNE unit, focusing on performance management, guidance, and professional development.

  8. Ensure effective communication with professional service colleagues at other campuses to foster a unified approach in optimizing TNE services and enhancing overall staff satisfaction.

  9. Oversee TNE communication activities, including newsletters and web content, to maintain consistency and accuracy.

  10. Participate in relevant TNE committees, coordinating team resources to provide effective support for all TNE committees and working groups.

  11. Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned by the TNE Service Manager or Head of Professional Services.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Demonstrated competencies necessary for this role, acquired through relevant experience in similar positions.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in developing and implementing administrative systems.

Desirable:

  • Comprehensive understanding of university structures, policies, and procedures related to learning and teaching.

Terms and Conditions
