About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Machinery Safety Engineer to join our team at Amazon UK Services Ltd. - A10. As a key member of our High-Risk Operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe design and operation of our cutting-edge technology across various facilities in Europe.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct equipment inspections to identify areas for improvement and increase safety levels.
  • Apply technical knowledge of EU machinery safety standards, PUWER/UWED regulations, and risk assessments to meet European country requirements.
  • Support cross-functional teams in developing compliant processes and solutions that meet Amazon's high standards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction, efficiency, scalability, simplicity, and operational excellence.
  • Manage the lifecycle of inspections, including reviewing corrective measures and implementing controls in the inspection tool.
  • Provide functional links with other critical teams, including Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, and New Build/Real Estate teams.
  • Manage the intake of requests for support and prioritize processes to suit operational requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience in machinery inspection and robotics/material handling equipment knowledge.
  • In-depth understanding of the EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and its relevant harmonized standards.
  • Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments.
  • Demonstrable record of managing machinery safety inspections across large multi-site businesses.
  • Credibility and ability to engage and influence other functional leaders and their teams.
  • Solid oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer-based tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working for a Notified or Approved body for Machinery Safety.
  • Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.
  • Formal training certification in Machinery Safety.
  • TUV Certified Functional Safety Engineer.
