Amazon UK Services Ltd. - A10 is seeking a highly skilled Machinery Safety Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our High-Risk Operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring high standards of safety are built into systems and processes across our European facilities.

**Job Summary:**
We are looking for a skilled Machinery Safety Engineer to conduct equipment inspections, identify areas for improvement, and implement sound safety engineering principles. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop compliant processes and ensure the safe design and operation of our cutting-edge technology.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Conduct equipment inspections against pre-determined criteria to identify areas for improvement
* Develop and implement compliant processes to ensure safe design and operation of machinery
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform knowledge into sound, compliant processes
* Support the development of solutions that meet Amazon's high standards for safety, risk reduction, customer satisfaction, efficiency, scalability, simplicity, and operational excellence
* Engage and manage the involvement of the inspection team with projects, reacting to changes to facilitate attendance for inspections
* Complete the lifecycle of inspection by reviewing corrective measures and implementing controls in the inspection tool
* Provide functional working links with other critical functional teams, including Engineering, Reliability and Maintenance Engineering, Procurement, New Build Safety, and Real Estate teams
* Manage the intake of requests for support and prioritize processes to suit operational requirements
* Provide input to change projects, build-outs, and development projects and act as a technical machinery advisor for the EU WHS team
* Keep tracking data up-to-date for the inspection program

**Requirements:**

* Experience in a similar role of machinery inspection
* Robotics and Material Handling Equipment (MHE) knowledge
* In-depth understanding of the EU Machine Directive 2006/42/EC and its relevant harmonized standards
* Comprehension and practical application of risk assessments
* Demonstrable record of managing machinery safety inspections across large multi-site businesses
* Credibility and ability to effectively engage and influence other functional leaders and their teams to build buy-in to EU Health and Safety strategies and change processes
* Used to operating at all levels of the organization from warehouse floor to senior management
* Solid oral and written communication skills
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Office and other computer-based tools to support system engineering and briefing/proposal development activities

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Experience of working for a Notified or Approved body for Machinery Safety
* Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent, preferably gained in a low-margin, high-volume environment with warehousing and logistics beneficial
* Formal training certification in Machinery Safety (such as CMSE)
* Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
* TUV Certified Functional Safety Engineer
* Experience interacting with cross-functional teams and managing projects with minimal supervision
