About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Family Support Specialist to join our team at Rochdale Council. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a vital role in supporting families and children in need.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct support to parents and carers of children with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships between school staff and parents/carers
  • Develop and deliver practical workshops for parents and carers on topics such as positive behaviour management strategies
  • Establish and coordinate links with local agencies to support families with safeguarding concerns
  • Produce resources to support families and children
  • Lead small groups and individual interventions on safeguarding and mental health concerns
  • Participate in the evaluation and review of support plans
  • Keep detailed records of contacts with children and families
  • Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in attending reviews and meetings
  • Provide written reports and assessments
  • Liaise with other professionals and agencies
Requirements
  • Proven track record of working with children and families
  • Expertise in child development and intensive family work
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Flexibility to travel as part of the role
