We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Home School Liaison Officer to join our team at Rochdale Council. As a key member of our community outreach team, you will play a vital role in supporting families and promoting positive relationships between schools and the community.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct support to parents and carers of pupils with emotional and/or behavioural difficulties, working in partnership with schools to develop strategies for improving pupil outcomes.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships between school staff and parents/carers, promoting consistent use of behaviour management techniques at home.
- Design and deliver a range of practical workshops for parents and carers, focusing on topics such as positive behaviour management strategies, parenting skills, and family support.
- Establish and coordinate links with local agencies and services, ensuring effective safeguarding and support for vulnerable families.
- Produce a variety of resources for schools, parents, and carers, designed to support families and promote positive relationships.
- Lead small groups and individual interventions, focusing on safeguarding and mental health concerns.
- Participate in the evaluation and review of support services, working with schools and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery.
- Keep detailed records of contacts with children and families, maintaining accurate and up-to-date files on CPOMS.
- Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in attending reviews, case conferences, and meetings, sharing information as required.
- Provide written reports and assessments, ensuring accurate and timely communication with schools and other stakeholders.
- Liaise with local authority officers and other relevant agencies, ensuring effective collaboration and information sharing.
- Proven track record of working with children and families, with experience of supporting and rehabilitating families with complex difficulties and challenges.
- Well-qualified in the field of intensive family work, with a strong understanding of child development and safeguarding principles.
- Ability to converse at ease with customers and service users, providing accurate and effective advice and support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with schools, families, and other stakeholders.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to changing priorities.
