As a Lead Instrumentation and Control Specialist with a background in Oil & Gas initiatives, you may find this opportunity appealing. This position will primarily be based in the UK, but it also offers the chance for regular travel to project sites. The role is vital for ensuring the safe and effective delivery of national production initiatives. We are looking for a professional who can maintain and enhance the strategies and standards for all technical aspects within Instrumentation & Control. Your role will involve ensuring that these standards remain relevant and are upheld as changes occur, as well as making decisions on any deviations from established protocols.

This position provides a unique opportunity for hybrid working while requiring occasional travel.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the management of major accident hazard risks in your designated area, enhancing awareness and visibility of risk management and control measures while ensuring workforce engagement.
  • Establish the philosophy, strategy, and standards for your technical discipline, integrating industry best practices.
  • Review and approve or reject deviations from standards and ensure necessary risk mitigation measures are in place.
  • Maintain an overview of the safe operation of systems, including the review and approval of technical content in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Operations and Maintenance Manuals, and training materials.
  • Consult with other relevant Technical Authorities as needed and manage the impact of boundary issues between disciplines.
  • Lead incident investigations and provide technical support, ensuring that incidents are reported, classified, and investigated, with lessons learned documented and tracked to prevent recurrence.
  • Conduct risk assessments and technical analyses in support of the instrumentation discipline, acting as the informed customer for the coordination of specialist technical support if required.
  • Take ownership of issues raised by regulators or third parties.
  • Monitor and analyze discipline performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement, and recommend action plans to enhance processes, systems, and technology.
  • Ensure that the technical discipline has effective controls in place in a practical and transparent manner.
  • Optimize approaches to increase reliability and efficiency across diverse assets.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • A degree in a relevant technical engineering discipline.
  • Appropriate qualifications and experience to be recognized as the Instrument Technical Authority.
  • Preferred Chartered Engineer status.
