Electrical Engineer Opportunity at Stantec

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at Stantec, a leading consultancy in the hydropower sector. As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design and development of cutting-edge hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions.

About the Role

You will be responsible for leading the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations, and transmission lines. Your expertise will ensure project feasibility and compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead electrical engineering design of hydropower projects
  • Develop and implement electrical systems, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations, and transmission lines
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated project design
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Support business growth and strategy development
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET
  • Experience with large rotating machines (either generators or motors)
  • Specific experience of hydro and/or pumped storage hydro systems is strongly desirable but not essential
  • Electrical experience in other sectors, particularly elsewhere within the Energy and Water sectors, is advantageous
