About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team at Stantec, working on the design and development of cutting-edge hydropower and pumped storage hydro solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who is passionate about sustainable energy and eager to make a significant impact in the industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the electrical engineering design of hydropower projects, including generators, control and instrumentation systems, protection, substations and transmission lines.
  • Perform design, model and analyse electrical and electronic systems to ensure project feasibility and compliance with industry standards.
  • Take line management responsibility for some members of the team, support business growth and strategy development and be take ownership of project deliverables.
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, and other engineering disciplines to ensure a fully integrated project design.
Requirements
  • Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status with the IET.
  • Experience with large rotating machines (either generators or motors) is essential.
  • Specific experience of hydro and/or pumped storage hydro systems is strongly desirable but is not essential.
  • Electrical experience in other sectors, particularly elsewhere within the Energy and Water sectors is advantageous.
