Job Overview

Everest People Solutions is partnering with a leading independent food manufacturer to recruit a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of their abattoir facilities. As a key member of the site team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the factory, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, and execute engineering and maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient running of the factory.
  • Take ownership of equipment and machinery, ensuring they are properly maintained and calibrated to meet production needs.
  • Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance program to minimize downtime and optimize production.
  • Meet engineering targets and deadlines, maintaining quality, cost control, and working within agreed budgets.
  • Lead and manage a team of maintenance engineers to ensure the effective execution of maintenance tasks.
  • Collaborate with the site operations manager to ensure seamless communication and coordination between departments.
  • Work closely with the site office manager to ensure adequate stock levels and procurement of spare parts.
  • Maintain a fast-paced environment that meets production demands while ensuring customer and company specifications are met.
  • Promote and maintain high standards of health, safety, and hygiene in accordance with company regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering background with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in an electrical or mechanical subject.
  • Prior supervisory or senior engineer experience.
  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and PPM systems.
  • Ability to understand electrical and mechanical drawings.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends.
  • Business travel may be required.
