Overview

Everest People Solutions have partnered with one of the UK's top independent food manufacturers to recruit a multi-skilled, Maintenance Manager in an abattoir environment. You will resolve breakdowns and conduct maintenance while driving site improvements. The Maintenance Manager will ensure high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency at all times.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, monitor, and report Engineering and Maintenance Activities for the Engineering Department.
  • Take responsibility for the equipment and machinery on site to facilitate the safe and efficient running of the factory.
  • Ensure a robust preventative maintenance system is in place.
  • Meet Engineering Targets within deadlines, maintaining quality, cost control, and working within agreed budgets.
  • Manage another Maintenance Engineer.
  • Report to the Site Operations Manager.
  • Work closely with the Site Office Manager to ensure adequate stocks and spares for all equipment and machinery, including requesting PO's when required.
  • Maintain the fast-paced environment in line with production needs.
  • Ensure customer and company specifications are achieved.
  • Promote and maintain Health, Safety, and Hygiene standards in accordance with company rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Strong engineering background with 3+ years of experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in an electrical/mechanical subject.
  • Prior supervisory or senior engineer experience.
  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and PPM systems.
  • Ability to understand electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends.
  • Business travel may be required.
