About the Role:

Everest People Solutions is partnering with a leading independent food manufacturer to recruit a skilled Maintenance Manager to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of their abattoir facilities. As a key member of the site team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the factory, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, and monitor engineering and maintenance activities to ensure optimal factory performance.
  • Take ownership of equipment and machinery to facilitate safe and efficient production.
  • Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance system to minimize downtime.
  • Meet engineering targets within deadlines, maintaining quality, cost control, and working within agreed budgets.
  • Lead a team of maintenance engineers to ensure seamless operations.
  • Collaborate with the site operations manager to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  • Work closely with the site office manager to maintain adequate stocks and spares for all equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure customer and company specifications are met, promoting a culture of excellence.
  • Maintain and promote Health, Safety, and Hygiene standards in accordance with company regulations.

Requirements:

  • Strong engineering background with 3+ years of experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or higher in an electrical/mechanical subject.
  • Prior supervisory or senior engineer experience.
  • Recognized engineering apprenticeship.
  • Proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Effective communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and PPM systems.
  • Ability to understand electrical/mechanical drawings.
  • Reliable, flexible, and able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
  • Physical fitness for manual tasks and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends.
  • Business travel may be required.
