Job Summary
Everest People Solutions is collaborating with a leading independent food production company in the UK to find a skilled Maintenance Manager for their abattoir operations. This role involves troubleshooting equipment failures and performing maintenance tasks while fostering site enhancements. The Maintenance Manager will uphold exceptional standards of safety, quality, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate, strategize, oversee, and document Engineering and Maintenance operations within the Engineering Department.
- Assume accountability for the machinery and equipment on-site to ensure the safe and effective functioning of the facility.
- Establish a comprehensive preventative maintenance framework.
- Achieve Engineering objectives within specified timelines, ensuring quality, cost management, and adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Supervise an additional Maintenance Engineer.
- Report directly to the Site Operations Manager.
- Collaborate closely with the Site Office Manager to guarantee sufficient inventory and spare parts for all machinery, including initiating purchase orders as necessary.
- Maintain a dynamic work environment aligned with production requirements.
- Ensure compliance with customer and company specifications.
- Advocate for and uphold Health, Safety, and Hygiene standards in accordance with corporate policies and regulations.
Qualifications
- Robust engineering background with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
- NVQ Level 3 or higher in an electrical or mechanical discipline.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or senior engineering role.
- Completion of a recognized engineering apprenticeship.
- Proactive mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and PPM systems.
- Capability to interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Dependable, adaptable, and able to perform under pressure to meet stringent deadlines.
- Physical capability for manual tasks and willingness to work extended shifts, including weekends.
- Willingness to travel for business purposes may be required.
