We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our client's team in an abattoir environment. As a key member of the site operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient running of the factory.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, monitor, and report on engineering and maintenance activities for the engineering department.
- Take responsibility for the equipment and machinery on site to facilitate the safe and efficient running of the factory.
- Develop and implement a robust preventative maintenance system.
- Meet engineering targets within deadlines, maintaining quality, cost control, and working within agreed budgets.
- Manage a team of maintenance engineers.
- Report to the site operations manager.
- Work closely with the site office manager to ensure adequate stocks and spares for all equipment and machinery.
- Maintain a fast-paced environment in line with production needs.
- Ensure customer and company specifications are achieved.
- Promote and maintain health, safety, and hygiene standards in accordance with company rules and regulations.
- Strong engineering background with 3+ years of experience.
- NVQ Level 3 or higher in an electrical/mechanical subject.
- Prior supervisory or senior engineer experience.
- Recognized engineering apprenticeship.
- Proactive and positive attitude with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Effective communication skills and proficiency in MS Office and PPM systems.
- Ability to understand electrical/mechanical drawings.
- Reliable, flexible, and able to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
- Physical fitness for manual tasks and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends.
- Business travel may be required.
