Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations and formulate detailed care plans.

• Administer prescribed medications and treatments, prioritizing patient safety and comfort.

• Monitor patient progress and respond swiftly to any changes in their condition.

• Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding gastrointestinal health.

• Assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of the ward manager.

• Maintain effective communication with the multidisciplinary team, specialist nurses, and all staff members.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered nurse on part 1 or part 12 of the NMC register
  • Evidence of professional development and commitment to lifelong learning
  • Ability to produce a personal professional portfolio
  • Proven knowledge of Gastroenterology and general surgery
  • Completion of a Mentorship/Preceptorship course

Desirable

  • Relevant post-registration qualification

Previous Experience

  • Experience at Band 5 or equivalent
