About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Family Time Worker to join our team at West Sussex County Council. As a Family Time Worker, you will play a vital role in ensuring that supervised contact is a warm and supportive experience for children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children during supervised contact sessions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with children, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Conduct thorough observations and record accurate notes to inform social workers' assessments and care plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to meet the expectations of social workers and the courts.
  • Manage the emotional demands of the role while maintaining a supportive team environment.

Requirements

  • Strong IT skills with the ability to make good observations and record them accurately.
  • Excellent customer focus with experience in negotiating and deescalating situations with vulnerable families.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to attend and contribute to planning and review meetings.
  • Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced working environment.
  • NVQ level 3 in childcare, play work, family support, or a related area, and/or relevant experience working with parents, carers, and children.
  • Experience of working with children and families within family support, early years, family centre, or child health sectors.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable children and families, with sound knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
  • Ability to provide a professional service to meet family needs, responding sensitively and flexibly, and maintaining confidentiality.
  • A valid full driving license and access to a car with business insurance.
