About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Children's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our community nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing expert care and support to children and young people with epilepsy and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualised care plans for children and young people with epilepsy, working closely with families and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on epilepsy care and management, including medication and treatment options.
  • Conduct nurse-led clinics and provide responsive support to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals through telephone consultations and home visits.
  • Contribute to service development and audits, ensuring high standards of care and effective treatment planning.
  • Develop and deliver training for healthcare professionals and families on epilepsy care and management.

Person Specification
  • Essential:
    • RSCN/RN(child), RGN accepted with appropriate experience.
    • Experience of epilepsy in community or ward setting.
  • Desirable:
    • Teaching/mentorship qualification, and/or specialty courses relevant to the work.
    • Experience of complex needs children.
    • Community qualifications.
    • PET 1,2 or 3 or equivalent.
