Residential Support Specialist Role Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Support Specialist to join our team in Corby. In this role, you will play a vital part in the lives of children and young people facing various challenges, including behavioral support needs, mental health concerns, non-verbal communication difficulties, and learning disabilities.

  • Delivering Person-Centered Care: Provide high-quality care and support tailored to the individual needs of each service user. This includes assisting with personal care tasks (bathing, dressing, toileting) while promoting independence and dignity.
  • Supporting Daily Living: Assist clients in their daily activities, such as meal preparation, medication management, and household chores.
  • Building Positive Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with service users, families, and other professionals involved in their care. Effective communication and collaboration are essential to ensure a holistic approach.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and confidential records of all care provided, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements for Success:

  • Previous experience working in a similar role is essential.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for building trust and rapport with service users and their families.
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate nature are fundamental qualities for this role.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is highly valued.
  • Basic IT skills (touchscreen devices, computers) are required for documentation and communication purposes.
  • A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are necessary due to the nature of the role.
  • Up-to-date training in medication administration, moving and handling techniques is essential.
  • An Enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS (update service) is required for this position.
