We are seeking an exceptional and experienced teacher and leader to lead our thriving History Department. As a Head of Department, you will be responsible for leading curriculum and teaching standards within History, with a focus on strategic oversight of Key Stage 3 and 4, and planning for the growth into Key Stage 5.
Key Responsibilities- Lead curriculum and teaching standards within History, ensuring high-quality learning experiences for students.
- Develop and implement effective lesson plans, utilizing a variety of teaching resources and methods.
- Contribute to the development of teaching, learning, and assessment within the faculty, ensuring excellence in education.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum frameworks, lesson planning, and evaluation processes.
- Contribute to the teaching of History across all age and ability ranges, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging learning experience.
- Stay up-to-date with current developments in the subject area, participating in INSET and initiating change where appropriate.
- Plan and deliver outstanding lessons, utilizing a range of teaching methods and resources.
- Contribute to the Academy's EDI strategy, taking oversight for this within the curriculum areas.
- Set and mark internal examinations and tests as required.
- Develop and maintain accurate records of student progress and achievement.
- Communicate effectively with parents, attending parents' evenings and other presentation meetings as required.
- Qualified Teacher Status and relevant qualifications and experience in History.
- Demonstrate an overview of the needs of the whole school and curriculum area.
- Be aware of current relevant legislation and educational developments.
- Understand the curriculum and factors contributing to the learning experience of pupils.
- Demonstrate a positive approach to change and a flexible approach to the demands of the post.
- Be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Be able to work as part of a team, valuing the contribution of other members.
- Demonstrate commitment to all school policies.
- Understand and respond to the needs of pupils with SEN.
