We are seeking a dedicated Credit Controller to enhance our financial operations by ensuring effective credit management throughout the organization, collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.


Responsibilities in this position include:

As a Credit Controller at Tunstall, your primary responsibility will be to facilitate the efficient collection of outstanding debts in line with our corporate guidelines while ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. The Credit Control department oversees the administration of approximately 2,000 credit accounts and is tasked with the collection of around £70 million.


The ideal candidate will possess:

Prior experience in credit control, strong proficiency in IT tools (including MS Word, Excel, and Outlook), and familiarity with financial or CRM systems. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential, coupled with a courteous yet assertive approach to building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, both internal and external. You should be detail-oriented, persistent, and driven to achieve results.


Key qualifications and skills:

  • Essential prior experience in credit control,
  • Proven ability to foster and maintain effective customer relationships at all levels,
  • Capability to reconcile complex financial accounts,
  • Strong IT skills with proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, along with financial/CRM systems,
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
  • Ability to handle challenging conversations with a calm and confident demeanor,
  • High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy,
  • Effective workload management skills, working towards targets and deadlines,
  • Decision-making abilities in line with company policies and procedures,
  • A collaborative team player with a flexible approach, especially during peak accounting periods,
  • Experience with IFS is advantageous but not mandatory.

Your main duties will include:

  • Ensuring timely and effective collection of all debts and customer payments,
  • Managing and pursuing outstanding debts through various communication channels,
  • Meeting cash collection targets consistently,
  • Building and nurturing customer relationships,
  • Coordinating with all departments to resolve disputes promptly and in accordance with company policies,
  • Performing customer account reconciliations,
  • Maintaining accurate Sales Ledger accounts to ensure correct debtor balances,
  • Responding promptly to customer inquiries to ensure satisfaction,
  • Keeping our systems updated for visibility on all accounts,
  • Setting up customer accounts per company guidelines,
  • Conducting ledger reviews with the Accounts Receivable Team Leader,
  • Engaging in special projects and additional tasks as assigned by the Accounts Receivable Team Leader.
