Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Colorectal Nurse Specialist to join our team at Whittington Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients referred to the Colorectal Rapid Access Pathway and ensuring they receive the most appropriate investigation as soon as possible.

Main Duties
  • Conduct telephone and face-to-face triage assessments to determine the most suitable course of action for patients referred to the Colorectal Rapid Access Pathway.
  • Book appropriate tests and investigations based on patient symptoms and fitness.
  • Provide patients with relevant information and support to help them understand their diagnosis and treatment options.
  • Work closely with the Colorectal Team to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.

Person Specification
  • First-level RGN registration.
  • Education to degree level or working towards.
  • Relevant post-registration qualifications in oncology/palliative care.
  • Advanced communication skills training.
Desirable Criteria
  • Education or working towards Masters level or willing to work towards.
  • Counselling qualification.
  • Line management experience.
