Colorectal Nurse Specialist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Colorectal Straight to Test Nurse to join our team at Whittington Health NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients referred onto the colorectal rapid access pathway and ensuring they receive the most appropriate investigation as soon as possible.
Main Responsibilities:- Conduct telephone and face-to-face triage assessments to determine the most appropriate course of action for patients referred onto the colorectal rapid access pathway.
- Book appropriate tests based on patients' symptoms and fitness, providing clear and concise information to patients and their families.
- Work closely with the established colorectal STT nurse and the colorectal team to ensure seamless delivery of care.
- Provide specialist nursing care to patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer, including inpatient and outpatient care, and acting as the keyworker for these patients.
- Act as a resource of expert advice, carry a case load, and provide coordination of care and support to patients with colorectal malignancies and their families from diagnosis and through all stages of their disease, treatment modalities, and follow-up care.
- First-level RGN registration.
- Educated to degree level or working towards.
- Relevant post-registration qualifications in oncology/palliative care.
- Advanced communication skills training.
