Jewellery and Hair Product Technologist

Company Overview:

Monsoon Accessorize is seeking a part-time Technologist specializing in Hair and Jewellery to join our Technical Services team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Establish strong partnerships with category teams (buying and design) to implement product strategies, including sustainability objectives.
  • Product Development Support: Assist Buying from initial prototype through to production approval, ensuring adherence to critical timelines and management, while collaborating with design teams to embed quality and safety into products. Conduct risk assessments during the initial development phase to verify feasibility, safety, and legal compliance.
  • Supplier Engagement: Work with suppliers to identify the most cost-effective production techniques that meet quality standards.
  • Testing Management: Oversee all product testing processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and that quality procedures are strictly followed.
  • Quality Assurance Liaison: Collaborate closely with QA teams in India and China to ensure effective monitoring of product testing and leverage their expertise regarding supplier capabilities.
  • Customer Feedback Analysis: Review returns data and customer insights to ensure products meet customer expectations and drive necessary improvements.
  • Distribution Center Coordination: Work with the QC Department on quality inspection queries and follow up with buying teams and suppliers.
  • Technical Understanding: Maintain an understanding of supplier technical capabilities, including conducting factory visits and audits.
  • Factory Visit Follow-ups: Coordinate with overseas offices to ensure timely action on factory visits and audits.
  • Ethical Trading Collaboration: Partner with the Ethical Trading manager to review SMETA reports and factory audits, conducting ethical risk assessments during factory visits as needed.
  • Legislative Awareness: Collaborate with the Technical Manager to stay informed about changes in legislation, ensuring that buying, design, and suppliers are adequately informed.
  • Store Visits: Conduct regular visits to stores to assess product ranges and gather feedback on any issues encountered.
  • Returns Analysis: Regularly analyze returns reports to identify issues promptly and drive improvements.
  • Due Diligence Testing Management: Oversee the testing program for jewellery and hair products.
  • International Knowledge: A working knowledge of international requirements is advantageous.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience at the Technologist level.
  • Ability to self-manage product lines, liaise with buyers and suppliers to meet commercial needs.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience with kids' and ladies' jewellery and hair products.
  • Experience supplying international markets.
  • Passion for Monsoon Accessorize products, ensuring the right quality is delivered to customers.
