Jewellery and Hair Product Technologist

Company Overview:

Monsoon Accessorize is seeking a part-time Technologist specializing in Hair and Jewellery to join our Technical Services team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish strong collaborative relationships with category teams (buying and design) to implement product strategies, including sustainability objectives.
  • Assist the Buying team from the initial prototype phase through to production approval, ensuring adherence to critical timelines and quality standards.
  • Engage with suppliers to identify cost-effective production techniques while maintaining required quality benchmarks.
  • Oversee product testing processes to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and quality assurance protocols.
  • Work closely with QA teams in India and China to effectively monitor product testing and leverage their insights on supplier capabilities.
  • Analyze returns data and customer feedback to align products with customer expectations and drive necessary improvements.
  • Coordinate with the Distribution Centre QC Department regarding quality inspection queries and follow up with buying teams and suppliers.
  • Develop an understanding of supplier technical capabilities through factory visits and audits.
  • Collaborate with overseas offices to ensure timely follow-up on factory audits and visits.
  • Partner with the Ethical Trading manager to review SMETA reports and factory audits, conducting ethical risk assessments during factory visits when appropriate.
  • Work alongside the Technical Manager to keep buying, design, and suppliers informed of any upcoming legislative changes.
  • Conduct regular store visits to review product ranges and gather feedback on any product-related issues.
  • Perform ongoing analysis of returns reports to identify issues promptly and facilitate improvements.
  • Manage the Due Diligence testing program for jewellery and hair products.
  • Familiarity with international requirements is a plus.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrated experience at the Technologist level.
  • Ability to self-manage product lines while effectively liaising with buyers and suppliers to meet commercial needs.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
  • Experience with kids' and ladies' jewellery and hair products.
  • Experience in supplying to international markets.
  • Strong passion for Accessorize products, ensuring the right quality is delivered to customers.
