Job Summary

Spencer Private Hospitals Ltd is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Theatre Scrub Nurse to join our team in the Operating Department. As a key member of our perioperative care team, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and contributing to the smooth operation of our theatres.

Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the maintenance of high standards of patient care and assist in the implementation of changes to care delivery systems, methods, and practice to improve the quality of care.
  • Develop and implement professional standards that reflect customer requirements and best practice.
  • Provide individualized patient care, including planned care for a group of patients without direct supervision.
  • Lead and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to provide professional leadership, advice, and guidance.
  • Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records in line with professional standards.
  • Administer and custody of medicines in line with SPH policy and professional standards.
  • Assist in maintaining professional standards and highlight to the line manager when standards are not met.
  • Undertake practice assessments competently.
  • Maintain accurate clinical observations of patients and act accordingly on findings.
  • Act as a patient advocate.
  • Be clinically competent in all areas of advanced practice relevant to the post.
  • Ensure own professional knowledge is continuously updated.
  • Contribute to achieving and maintaining a CQC rating of Good or Outstanding.

Person Specification

  • Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner.
  • NMC/HPC Registered.
  • Diploma in Health Care Studies.
  • Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care.
  • Knowledge of research and evidence-based practice.
  • Catalyst for change.
  • Teaching and assessing/mentorship, or willing to undertake.
  • Knowledge of CQC.
  • Orthopaedic.
  • Minimally invasive procedures.
  • Laser applications.

Desirable Skills and Attributes

  • Multiskilling - demonstrate competency in recovery and endoscopy.
  • Mentorship or equivalent.
  • Post-registration theatre experience in the private sector, dealing with children/adults.

Working Conditions

  • Highly developed physical/clinical skills where accuracy is important.
  • Manual handling of patients and manoeuvring heavy instrumentation and equipment.
  • Frequent unpleasant working conditions; contact with body fluids, foul linen daily.
  • Daily contact with substances hazardous to health.
