Community Engagement Specialist - Foster Environmental Awareness

About the Organization
The Royal Parks (TRP) is a charitable organization dedicated to the stewardship of over 5,000 acres of parkland, unique habitats, and historic landmarks across several Royal Parks in London.

Our parks, including Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens, and Richmond Park, are among the most frequented attractions in the UK, welcoming millions of visitors annually.

Our initiative, Help Nature Thrive (HNT), addresses the urgent global biodiversity crisis by enhancing the resilience and biodiversity of our parks while fostering connections with visitors.

Supported by significant annual funding, HNT aims to implement conservation improvements, enrich visitor experiences, and gather data to guide effective management practices.

We are currently seeking a Community Engagement Specialist to join our HNT Team on a full-time basis, with the potential for an extension based on funding availability.

Role Overview

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you will collaborate with the Help Nature Thrive Team to boost participation, volunteerism, and communication within the Royal Parks.

In partnership with park teams, local authorities, and other stakeholders, you will identify new target demographics and develop nature-centric engagement strategies to attract diverse community groups to the parks.

You will also play a key role in promoting the Help Nature Thrive initiative to various audiences, including park visitors and volunteers.


Your Responsibilities Include:

  • Engaging with local communities to foster development
  • Managing budgets and ensuring financial records are maintained
  • Assisting in the execution of the Help Nature Thrive outreach programs

Candidate Profile
To qualify for the Community Engagement Specialist role, you should possess:

  • Proven experience in developing and executing community engagement activities in fields such as natural sciences, ecology, and conservation
  • Strong relationship-building skills with diverse stakeholders and visitors
  • A genuine passion for and knowledge of urban nature in the UK
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong numerical aptitude
  • Proficiency in IT applications, including Microsoft Office
  • A degree in an environmental or social science discipline or equivalent relevant experience

This role may require occasional evening and weekend commitments.
